Italy’s Danieli Group has been recognized for the outstanding performance of its 220-ton electric arc furnace (EAF) at Jindal Steel’s Sohar plant in Oman. The facility recently set a new monthly production record, reaching 235,112 tons of liquid steel in a single month, with productivity hitting 324 tons per hour. The furnace operates on an optimized feed of 61% hot DRI, 37% cold DRI, and 2% HBI, achieving industry-leading energy efficiency of just 493 kWh per ton. The high-performance EAF has significantly boosted Oman’s steel export capacity to the GCC and African markets. Danieli’s advanced automation and energy-saving technologies have improved stability, reduced emissions, and strengthened Jindal’s position as a leading low-cost, high-efficiency producer in the Middle East.
